James Stewart letter, 1859.

The collection consists of a letter dated August 26, 1859, Macon, written to P. H. Mell from James Stewart. Stewart is contemplating doing a series of sermons of various denominations of Georgia. These, along with a portrait of the author, will be published in the "Georgia Pulpit." Stewart wants Mell to send a sermon along with an ambrotype for publication. Stewart wants to change the purpose and name of the Southern Methodist and the Georgia Pulpit will be its successor.
